Mr. Schofer co-founded the firm of Schofer Dillberg & Company, Inc. in December 2013. Prior to founding Schofer Dillberg & Company, Inc., Mark served as a tax principal with Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co., Ltd. and as an LLC member of Sullivan Shuman & Freedberg, LLC. Mark has more than twenty years of business and individual taxation experience including a deep expertise with partnership/LLC and S corporation transactions. He helps business owners implement tax-saving strategies throughout the lifecycle of their business and is experienced in real estate, hospitality, manufacturing, distribution, software, and investment management. Mark has an extensive understanding of issues such as partnership allocations, real estate transactions, debt workouts, business sales/acquisitions, redemptions, owner buyouts, and equity plans. Mark also advises individual clients on issues such as the Medicare tax on investment income, the alternative minimum tax ("AMT"), stock and security transactions, passive, at-risk, and basis loss limitations, and estimated tax planning.
Mark earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his Master of Science in Taxation from Northeastern University.
Mark is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a proud husband and father of five.
